HYBRID TRUTH

Hai Thur! My name is AkaiitE, but you can call me Akai. I'm a Canadian cosplayer and part of a derptastic cosplay group called Dragon City Squad based out of Calgary, AB. I've created a space for me to post cosplay stuffs. Mostly you'll be seeing WIP and finished stuffs here, but I'll also likely blog Tutorials, tips, con info, con journals, and just regular old derpage.
Feel free to ask me anything, I'm more than happy to reply! <3

I consider eyes an important part of cosplay. The eye make-up, the lashes, the contacts. But it’s not always easy coming across good quality contacts and lashes for a decent price. Especially when you are already spending so much on fabric and wigs and props.

Here are some great resources I’ve found through friends and my own searching.

Eyelashes: http://falseeyelashessite.com/

they have great rates, lashes come in packs of 3 and shipping is inexpensive and fast. Best part is, they run a rewards program!

Contacts: http://www.aliceandrabbitshop.com/apps/webstore/

I was given this URL from DC and I believe she got it from Nani-Mizu. These contacts are comfortable to wear, inexpensive, and come in very vibrant colours! They even cover up some of the darkest eyes! Shipping is also very inexpensive (if i remember correctly, it’s included in the price) and lens arrive in 7-15 days. Not bad!

The frames for three of my wings for my Toothiana cosplay.
I took some wire and I laid it out in the shape of the top of the wing. I took a smaller gauge wire and stretched it out to be the “middle vein” from there I made the smaller veins towards the top of the wing, and then did the same for the bottom. I then covered the entire frame with tape to make it a little more sturdy :D

The start to my Toothiana Helemet (this thing is indestructible rn XD)

I took some tinfoil and moulded it to my head. I then covered the tinfoil with Duct tape to help it keep it’s shape. From there I built a cone out of craft foam and attached it to the tinfoil/duct tape helmet with more duct tape.

from there I paper mached the entire thing. So far only one coat.

my paper mache paste is made from 1 1/2 cups of flour and 2 cups of water. I then covered the entire surface with white glue :D

only 70 days until animethon -_-
